Umpires
Umpiring is an incredibly rewarding experience that requires hard work and dedication. If you love your netball and following the rules then this might be the job for you. Develop confidence and resilience, make friends and become a netball leader. Open a world of opportunities and have some very serious fun!
Our umpires begin their journey through the specialised Whitehorse Netball Association ‘HAT’ (Have A Try) program. They are nurtured and supported through one on one training to provide the best opportunity for future confident umpires.

Fun fact: It’s been estimated that an umpire makes 22,800 decisions per match! That’s because the ball must be passed at least every three seconds which means approximately 1,200 passes per match. Each time a player catches the ball, an umpire has to check seven things involving the player with the ball and their opponent (e.g. footwork, contact, obstruction, offside etc). At the same time the umpire needs to scan down the court to watch all of the other players. (Source: Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League)
